Kimberley Mineral Sands

Kimberley Mineral Sands (KMS) operates the Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project (Thunderbird), which is located mid-way between Derby and Broome in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world.
Kimberley Mineral Sands produces ilmenite and zircon mineral sands products that are in high demand from global markets and used in everyday life in applications such as ceramics, sunscreen, paint, foundry, aerospace and medical products.
As an emerging major producer, it’s estimated Thunderbird will produce 3.5% of global ilmenite and 6.5% of global zircon supply over the 36+ year mine life.
At Kimberley Mineral Sands, we are a values-based organisation driven by a singular, powerful vision of ‘Together creating prosperity in the Kimberley and beyond’. Safety, sustainability and community are not just values, they’re part of our DNA, supported by our corporate values of integrity, accountability, co-creation, humility and inclusivity.
Our diverse and dynamic workforce is a reflection of the Kimberley communities we call home – from Traditional Owners and long-term residents to newcomers who have relocated to take up the opportunities that Thunderbird offers.
With ambitious local content, Aboriginal employment and diversity targets, we will create intergenerational employment and business opportunities for today, tomorrow and the future.
